The Capsuleer, Agent Interaction
Umokka System, Lonetrek Region, New Eden. Day 23219
I’m hovering 95 m from the Acceleration Gate; for a moment, I’m lost in the steady comfort of the dull vibration emanating through the ship from the raw power the Gate is holding in reserve until I push the button. Only I’m not pushing it yet. According to the agent who gave me this gig… what’s his name… Oksarko… eh, I never remember. The joke is as long as you’d know it if you saw it, why bother to remember it? Anyway let’s see the guy says it’s pirates – figured that much – Serpentis – don’t run into those that often, but they’re probably frackin’ stupid… Kinetic damage probably… I think I’m ready. I take one last look at the console. I run the numbers on shield hp’s I can sustain before they start scratching my paint. I check the capacitor levels; run a couple of virtual scenarios through to assure me I’ll be cap stable. I take a look at the launchers, the damage per second values assure me I’m firmly capable of unleashing hell when I need to. I push the button.
I don’t feel much as the gate bends the fabric of space and time preparing to throw me into deadspace, but I suddenly remember something I should’ve thought about before. The agent said this was a routine patrol; however, I’m suddenly remembering the name they gave this mission on his datapad… Maybe it’s just me, but there’s nothing routine sounding about “Massive Attack”.
Fuckin’ Agents…

EVE Blog Banter #8
Welcome to the eighth installment of the EVE Blog Banter , the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed here . Check out otherEVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!
This month’s topic comes to us from me, Ga’len at The Wandering Druid of Tranquility. He asks: “What new game mechanic or mechanics would you like to see created and brought into the EVE Online universe and how would this be incorporated into the current game universe? Be specific and give details, this is not meant to be a ‘nerf this, boost my game play’ post like we see on the EVE forums.”
Well, this is the Edener’s very first EVE Blog Banter. We plan on participating every month from this point forward! Click read more to read the entire article.
Classifieds: They’re Here, Finally!
Sorry everybody, I have been extremely busy as of late, and unfortunately, have had to turn a blind eye to the Edener. Fret not! I’m back, with a new feature I’ve been trying to roll out for a while now: player classifieds.
If you look to our sidebar, you will now see a box with several classified slots. If you sign up for our classifieds program, you will be able to place a 125×125 image in one of those spaces for a predetermined amount of timing.
Pricing and rules can be found here.
Unrelated Tip: Web Development
You can find the largest FREE web developer site on the net here at w3schools.com. Who doesn’t want their blog or site to look better? Learn how, I didn’t become a php expert in just minutes but it did help me resolve some issues I was having with the footer.php on my blog.
Quick Tip: CSPA Charges
CSPA is a charge which CCP has put on all invites (convo or gang) and eve-mails to help prevent spammers. I recommend removing it, as we fly a lot in gangs and have a lot of convos and probably also eve-mails - and it is annoying to have to accept payment of 1 to 100.000 ISK for each mail or convo or ganginvite. It is not so much the ISK as the annoyance of having to press OK one more time. Read how here @ Removing CSPA Charges
Pew Pew - Part 2 - Where Do I Go?
I was going to start this series by explaining the differences in different styles of PvP, but as I started to write, I realized a lot of it was fairly self explanatory, so rather than more answers to “what?”, I am going to steer this series in the direction of “how?”. This article will be devoted to finding fights. This is one of those conundrums of the game in that you feel like you can always find a fight when you aren’t prepared, and then as soon as you go looking, you either find nothing or a 40-man roaming faction battleship pirate gang.

This is not whining…
Well, maybe it is…
I don’t know…
See, Eve was my first one of these games, so I don’t know what WoW was like or what the pros and cons were or why everybody seems to think eve is better.
Here’s what I do know… I’ve played EvE enough to “get it”. When I frst started in my Batam in Empire Space, moving all the way up to an actual Cruiser, I was amazed at the level of support I received from other people in the help channel.
One memorable moment was when they suggested I get a Destroyer to salvage behind me but I couldn’t afford a Destroyer — 2 separate people sent me enough ISK to pay for 4 destroyers. I tried to give it back… they said no. Give it to someone who needs it once you get established.
An Introduction to Skills
Skills. You need them to do anything and everything in EVE. But what are they? Which should you train? Read on for an introduction to skills.
The New Theme: A Preview
So I decided to embark on an adventure to learn how to skin / theme / whatever you want to call it, Wordpress and develop a new, unique theme that suites the New Edener, exclusively. I tried to pull in as many EVE elements as possible, anyway, heres a quick preview, remember, this is still a prototype!
Classifieds: Coming Soon
Just an update on the classifieds I posted about a few days ago. I have been working on a custom theme / script to display a number of classifieds on the Edener homepage. This theme (should) be ready in about a week’s time or so.
This service will allow you to place an ad for whatever you want, really, as long as it is EVE related. You can advertise your in game business, a blog, your EVE related website, anything you want. Pricing will be done in ISK, and the prices should be affordable for just about anybody.
Pricing:
1 Week: 3,000,000 ISK
2 Weeks: 5,000,000 ISK
3 Weeks: 8,000,000 ISK
1 Month: 10,000,000 ISK
* Prices updated May 17th
Details
What does this get you exactly? With the new revision of the Edener will come a brand new script on the sidebar of the website. It will cycle through a list of ad’s that people have paid for to be displayed on the Edener. You will be able to place an ad on this list, to be rotated through for each page view.
In addition to this script on the front page, there will also be a classifieds page listing all of the classifieds currently in our database.
The Edener currently gets between 400 - 1000 views a day, I have seen the numbers go even higher on big release days.
Earn yourself some publicity, get your in game business rockin’, advertise on the Edener!
If you are interested in placing a classified on the Edener, you can send an email to the staff at: thenewedener@gmail.com with the subject line reading “Classifieds”.
Opening Special
To get things rolling here, I will be offering all classified placement for 50% off. This special will last 1 week from today.
Pew Pew - A Guide to EVE Online PvP - Introduction
EVE Online is a game of many facets. One of the most challenging and exciting aspects of the game is player versus player combat, or “PvP”, meaning you are no longer fighting against a computer program to make money; you are fighting against real people from all around the real world, and guns are the universal language.
The Capsuleer, Materials for War - Chapter 2
But the call of profit beckons. Beads of sweat would of eventually evaporated to form a fine coat of mist on the windshield peering out into the deep black. But for the mere fact I’m encased in some sort of hydrostatic bio-goop dreamed up by Jovian eggheads while tubes and wires intertwine themselves into my flesh. The POD’s sensors do not itch my nerve endings the way they did the first few months and my consciousness extends past my corporeal extremities as I’ve become one with the POD.
The Capsuleer, Materials For War
Hell and Gone, Amarr Space, New Eden. Day 23201
My current location in New Eden is in Empire Space. Coordinates are x-one long series of numbers, y- more of the same and z-more of the same. The coordinates calculate into a long fucking way from home. Add to that the fact that I’m out here in a cruiser mining, vs. back home in the Raven blowing shit up and you’ve just joined me on what you could safely say is not an average day.
Can I just say that unless you’re an Amarr, Kernite is one bitch of a mineral to find? That, by the way, is a fact FULLY reflected in its selling price on the market.
Personally, and if you’re in mining or production don’t take this the wrong way, I don’t give two shits about Kernite. But the state of Caldari does, and having shown up on their radar somehow through my normal line of work, they promised me they’d look favorably upon me if I could help them out….
Never one to turn down a chance to gain standings with the State, I am now 29 freakin’ jumps from home, trying to get not just a hold full of Kernite, but an entire hauler full of Kernite. Work through those logistics yet? If I repackage the Cruiser to have the Hauler bring it down, I lose the insurance on the Cruiser. So I had to load a shuttle in the Hold of the Hauler, bring it down, take the Shuttle back, grab the Mining Cruiser (she’s an Osprey), load her hold with the Shuttle, just in case, and 29 more jumps before I can begin to start firing at roids.
Eventually I’ll have to do something similar to get it all back, and in the end, I can expect a smart ass comment from the Caldari State Agent, 100,000 ISK, and maybe I’ll get a million ISK implant I can’t use. As for the official standings? Maybe a .01 standing increase.
This is the life of the Capsuleer… real edge of your seat type stuff I’m into…

How to: 5 Random Odds & Ends
When I first started playing EVE the tutorials were not very helpful, as a result, there were a lot of tips, tricks, odds and ends that I didn’t discover until I had been playing. Now, I haven’t done the new tutorials, so I’m not sure if these things are covered now or not. Regardless, here are the top 5 tips and tricks I’ve used in EVE. Read more…
Schism - Chapter 1
As the Raven passed past the distant star, a halo appeared around it, illuminating the ship, it was spectacular, inspirational even. A second Raven flew by, a third, a forth, and more. The famous Third Caldari Fleet was moving into position to spring a trap on a massive Gallente troop movement. Boy, they were in for the surprise of their lives…
Corporate Interaction, Part 1 of 5
Ikami System, The Forge Region, New Eden. Day 23235
Gator eyes me carefully before taking a long pull off his Quafe. I meet his gaze briefly before turning back to stirring my own drink – something a little stronger than Quafe. He probably figures I’m still amped on boosters… if so, he’s probably right.
The Depths of EVE: Musings & Rants - A Guest Article
I have been playing eve on and off for a few years now. Since 2003 to be exact.
It started back in the day simply as my first MMO. I saw the retail box and simply fell in love.
How to Become a Manufacturing Mogul
Money is power in EVE, as I’m sure you all have figured out by now, so really, your most important asset in this game is your ISK generator. Your ISK generator is the ship, station, blueprint, structure or whatever it may be that provides the majority of your income. Most things require that you actually play to make ISK, but what if you could make ISK while you slept at night, while you worked, while you went for a jog? Well, you can. Its called manufacturing and it’s how I became rich.
So, how do you do it? How can you become a manufacturing mogul? Well read on and I’ll tell you how I did it.
