Umokka System, Lonetrek Region, New Eden. Day 23219

I’m hovering 95 m from the Acceleration Gate; for a moment, I’m lost in the steady comfort of the dull vibration emanating through the ship from the raw power the Gate is holding in reserve until I push the button. Only I’m not pushing it yet. According to the agent who gave me this gig… what’s his name… Oksarko… eh, I never remember. The joke is as long as you’d know it if you saw it, why bother to remember it? Anyway let’s see the guy says it’s pirates – figured that much – Serpentis – don’t run into those that often, but they’re probably frackin’ stupid… Kinetic damage probably… I think I’m ready. I take one last look at the console. I run the numbers on shield hp’s I can sustain before they start scratching my paint. I check the capacitor levels; run a couple of virtual scenarios through to assure me I’ll be cap stable. I take a look at the launchers, the damage per second values assure me I’m firmly capable of unleashing hell when I need to. I push the button.

I don’t feel much as the gate bends the fabric of space and time preparing to throw me into deadspace, but I suddenly remember something I should’ve thought about before. The agent said this was a routine patrol; however, I’m suddenly remembering the name they gave this mission on his datapad… Maybe it’s just me, but there’s nothing routine sounding about “Massive Attack”.

Fuckin’ Agents…

The Capsuleer, Materials for War - Chapter 2

But the call of profit beckons. Beads of sweat would of eventually evaporated to form a fine coat of mist on the windshield peering out into the deep black. But for the mere fact I’m encased in some sort of hydrostatic bio-goop dreamed up by Jovian eggheads while tubes and wires intertwine themselves into my flesh. The POD’s sensors do not itch my nerve endings the way they did the first few months and my consciousness extends past my corporeal extremities as I’ve become one with the POD.

Hell and Gone, Amarr Space, New Eden.  Day 23201

My current location in New Eden is in Empire Space.   Coordinates are x-one long series of numbers, y- more of the same and z-more of the same.   The coordinates calculate into a long fucking way from home.   Add to that the fact that I’m out here in a cruiser mining, vs. back home in the Raven blowing shit up and you’ve just joined me on what you could safely say is not an average day.

Can I just say that unless you’re an Amarr, Kernite is one bitch of a mineral to find?   That, by the way, is a fact FULLY reflected in its selling price on the market.

Personally, and if you’re in mining or production don’t take this the wrong way, I don’t give two shits about Kernite.   But the state of Caldari does, and having shown up on their radar somehow through my normal line of work, they promised me they’d look favorably upon me if I could help them out….

Never one to turn down a chance to gain standings with the State, I am now 29 freakin’ jumps from home, trying to get not just a hold full of Kernite, but an entire hauler full of Kernite.   Work through those logistics yet?   If I repackage the Cruiser to have the Hauler bring it down, I lose the insurance on the Cruiser.   So I had to load a shuttle in the Hold of the Hauler, bring it down, take the Shuttle back, grab the Mining Cruiser (she’s an Osprey), load her hold with the Shuttle, just in case, and 29 more jumps before I can begin to start firing at roids.

Eventually I’ll have to do something similar to get it all back, and in the end, I can expect a smart ass comment from the Caldari State Agent, 100,000 ISK, and maybe I’ll get a million ISK implant I can’t use.  As for the official standings?   Maybe a .01 standing increase.

This is the life of the Capsuleer… real edge of your seat type stuff I’m into…
